Serbia's 37-year-old tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated 21-year-old Grand Slam debutant Jaime Faria in the second round of the Australian Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion entered the third round with a 6-1, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2 victory over Faria. Djokovic has now played 430 singles matches at Grand Slams as the Serbian broke the record set by Roger Federer (429).
