₹9,605 cr paid to ineligible Ladki Bahin beneficiaries in Maha, data shows

Maharashtra government paid ₹9,605 crore to 92 lakh beneficiaries later found ineligible under the Ladki Bahin scheme, RTI data obtained by HT showed. Of these, around 62 lakh beneficiaries were removed for failing to complete e-KYC, while about 16 lakh exceeded the ₹2.5-lakh annual family income limit. The payments were made between the scheme's July 2024 launch and June 2026.
