Spanish island falls into complete blackout

Spain's Canary Island of La Palma suffered a complete blackout as 50,000 customers were left without electricity amid very heavy rainfall, authorities said. Power was restored to about 75% of the affected customers roughly 4.5 hours after the outage began. The outage began after a lightning strike hit an electrical substation and sparked a fire that knocked out voltage lines.
