Nana Patekar, in an interview with The Lallantop, recalled being a part of 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. He said he was member of Quick Reaction Team, one of most elite forces. According to an old India Today report, Nana lived among the soldiers for over a fortnight, moving from post to post as "unofficial cheerleader of sorts."
