Oil tanker explodes after hitting naval mines in Hormuz Strait

The Navy of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said a super oil tanker, EL GAIA, caught fire and exploded after hitting naval mines while attempting to cross Strait of Hormuz via a "forbidden" route. Efforts to contain fire failed, and the entire vessel was engulfed in flames, IRGC said, adding the strait remains closed and under Iranian naval control.
