HDFC Bank diverted ₹45 crore to Maharashtra government's MSRDC by camouflaging it as sponsorship for the corporation's road safety awareness campaign, The Indian Express reported. Its marketing department paid ₹39.7 crore between 2023-24 and 2024-25 to MSRDC, instead of the CSR team doing so. The marketing department reportedly accepted that it was asked to process a pre-arranged deal.
