Shameful, to say the least: HC as it pulls up UP Police over illegal detentions

Allahabad High Court pulled up UP Police over alleged illegal detention and repeated failures to produce CCTV footage. The court described the state of civil liberties in UP as "shameful, to say the least". It made these observations while granting relief in petition filed by man who was detained on September 5, but his arrest was recorded two days later.
