Maharashtra ends Hindi exam for govt employees

The Maharashtra government has scrapped the Hindi language examination conducted for government officers and employees. The exam has been cancelled, as the Marathi language is now utilised for all official government work in the state. The exam was made mandatory to facilitate the use of Hindi for official purposes. The new rule will apply retrospectively from May 7, 2026.
