A parliamentary panel has warned that Meta could lose its 'safe harbour' protection if CEO Mark Zuckerberg doesn't apologise for briefly removing PM's video from Facebook. Under Section 79 of IT Act, the provision protects intermediaries like Meta from legal liability for user-posted content. However, it applies only if they follow due diligence norms & comply with government/court directions.
