Japan's 'polka dot queen' Yayoi Kusama passes away

Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, known worldwide for her polka dots, pumpkin sculptures and Infinity Mirror Rooms, passed away aged 97 at a hospital in Tokyo. Her museum and studio said she continued painting until her final days. Notably, she received Japan's Order of Culture, one of the country's highest honours for artists, in 2016.
