Billionaire Durov explains why WhatsApp's default end-to-end encryption claim is a 'giant fraud'

Telegram's billionaire CEO Pavel Durov called WhatsApp's claim of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) of messages by default a "giant consumer fraud". He claimed that nearly 95% of the app's private messages are unencrypted and in plain-text on Apple/Google servers if backup encryption isn't enabled. Messages still stay unencrypted even if a person enabled this as 90% don't do it, he alleged.
