The International Football Association Board (IFAB) will implement new VAR protocols at the FIFA World Cup 2026. VAR can now intervene in wrongly issued red cards from incorrect yellow cards, mistaken identity cases where a player gets yellow or red card for an offence committed by another player and incorrect corner-kick decisions and fouls committed before ball is in play.
