Russia revives 'Object 1335', secret underground centre linked to 'Dead Hand' nuclear system

A secret underground command centre buried inside a mountain in a Russian village is being upgraded, analysts said. The facility, known as Object 1335, is linked to Russia’s Cold War-era Perimetr nuclear command system, called “Dead Hand” in the West. Experts said upgrade could add automation, allowing the centre to bypass normal command channels and communicate directly with nuclear missiles.
