India allows exporters to invoice and receive payments in rupees

The DGFT has eased rules for rupee-based export transactions, allowing Indian exporters to invoice overseas sales and receive payments in rupees or foreign currencies. Rupee payments received through approved banks will now qualify for Foreign Trade Policy benefits. The move could reduce currency conversion costs and risks while offering an alternative for countries facing dollar shortages.
