AN/FPS-132, the largest US radar in the Gulf, has been destroyed by Iran, Iranian media reported citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) public relations office. Radars such as AN/FPS-132 are necessary for modern air defence systems as they enable timely detection, tracking and interception. It was reportedly installed by the US in 2013.
