The US Congress passed 'Laken Riley Act'- a Bill mandating detention of undocumented migrants charged with certain crimes, ranging from burglary, theft to assault on law enforcement officers. It'll be the first law to be signed in President Donald Trump's second term. The bill brought by Congressional Republicans was passed after House of Representatives approved it with a 263-256 vote.

After his win against Vincent Keymer in the Masters section of the ongoing Tata Steel Chess tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Gukesh D's Elo rating rose to 2784.0. He overtook Arjun Erigaisi, whose current Elo rating is 2779.5.

Thai actors Apiwat 'Porsch' Apiwatsayree and Sappanyoo 'Arm' Panatkool were among the couples who were handed their pink-bordered marriage certificates at a registry office in Bangkok on the first day. Thailand is the third country in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage.

Comedian Kapil Sharma received a death threat via email, said police. Actor Rajpal Yadav and choreographer Remo D'Souza have also reportedly received death threat emails. The police have launched an investigation, and preliminary findings suggest that the threatening emails originated from Pakistan.
