Assam is facing severe flooding this year as the foothill district of Charaideo in Assam received 436% more rainfall than normal on July 18 and 19. The excessive excavation on the river valley side due to mining that led to the floods. The release of excess water from the Doyang Hydroelectric Project in Wokha is also one of the causes.
