UC Berkeley researchers used AI to discover a hidden electrical signal in the heart that can predict sudden cardiac death. Analysing over 4,40,000 ECGs from Sweden with death records, the study found AI could detect a previously unknown warning sign in routine ECGs. Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a fatal cardiac arrest occurring within one hour of symptom onset.
