16-yr-old wins ₹47 lakh scholarship for making affordable AI to detect leukaemia

Ethan Yan, aged 16, has won a $50,000 (over ₹47 lakh) scholarship as a 2025 Davidson Fellow for developing ALLocate, an affordable AI tool that detects acute myeloid leukaemia in bone marrow samples. He created the tool after seeing his great-aunt struggle with leukaemia. It has a setup cost of about $100 and matches expert-level accuracy in identifying leukaemia cells.
