Western Railways scraps Mumbai wind-solar hybrid pilot
Western Railways has shut down a wind-solar hybrid pilot at Mumbai's Bandra-Khar and Naigaon-Vasai Road sections after it underperformed. The ₹19.47 lakh project generated 49% less power than conventional solar systems and cost 4.86 times more per kWp. Battery maintenance issues further compounded the project's viability concerns.
