Govt increases India's capital expenditure target to ₹12.2 lakh crore in Budget 2026

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that India's capital expenditure target for FY27 has been raised to ₹12.2 lakh crore. This is an increase from the ₹11.21 lakh crore capital expenditure target that the government had set in the previous year's estimates. The government is likely betting that sustained capital expenditure will help revive private investment.
