Most detailed images ever taken of Sun’s surface released

Scientists have captured the highest-resolution images of the Sun's surface ever, using the US National Science Foundation's Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii. The images revealed tiny swirling vortices, 20 km wide, near a sunspot. Published in Nature, the study marks the first detection of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability on a star's surface.
