How will reopening of Strait of Hormuz help India?

Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz could lower freight and insurance costs for India’s crude and LNG shipments and provide more reliable access to Gulf supplies. Cheaper energy could reduce the country's import bill and ease pressure on the rupee and inflation. However, petrol and diesel prices may not fall immediately due to taxes, refining margins and currency movements.
