Bottles made from bioplastic extracted from sugarcane in Kerala

A group of three friends from Kerala developed water bottles designed to decompose in 180 days. The bottles are made using polylactide (PLA), a bioplastic extracted from sugarcane and cornstarch that behaves much like plastic. The bottles are free of BPA and the caps are compostable. PLA-based products break down easily, helping reduce plastic-based pollution.
