The US buried a nearly one-ton time capsule at Philadelphia's Independence National Historical Park as part of its celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of Independence. The waterproof capsule contains nearly 200 artifacts representing all 50 states and all branches of government. It will be reopened on the nation's 500th anniversary on July 4, 2276.
