Jyoti Deshpande, who bankrolled the 'Dhurandhar' franchise, shared her thoughts behind the film's casting, saying she wanted "performers rather than the so-called stars". She called Ranveer Singh an "absolutely outstanding actor" who transforms into the character that he plays. "When he has to become Bajirao, he becomes Bajirao. When he has to become Khilji, he becomes Khilji," Deshpande said.
