Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said 1,679 illegal immigrants had been repatriated to Bangladesh from the state in the last two years. He said the repatriations had taken place between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2026, after the identification of illegal immigrants. Sarma added that no identified illegal immigrant is repatriated if appeal is pending in court.
