'Mogging' declared Word of the Year by Collins Dictionary

Collins Dictionary has named 'mogging' its 2026 Word of the Year. The term means outperforming or outshining someone, particularly in appearance, confidence or status. Other shortlisted words include 'ghost job', 'bixie', 'friendslop', 'fricy', 'carspreading', 'firewave', 'hydration break', 'Manchesterism' and 'P(doom)'. Collins said 'mogging' saw a 210% increase in usage in 2026.
