Unions protest as Punjab set to dismiss 253 teachers

Teachers' unions held a protest march in Amritsar on Friday against Punjab government's move to dismiss 253 master cadre teachers serving for 3.5 years. Protesters burnt an effigy of the government at Cantonment Chowk, demanding withdrawal of termination orders. Unions argued teachers should not bear consequences of alleged irregularities in the 2022 recruitment examination.
