Shorebird from Australia flies over 7,400 km, spotted in Andamans

A tagged shorebird flew over 7,400 km from South Australia and was spotted on a remote island in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago on Tuesday, an expert said. The sighting highlights the journey of migratory birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and marks first recorded re-sighting of a tagged bird, he added. The bird was tagged on April 13, 2025.
