Iran threatened to attack ships passing through Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global oil supplies. For India, the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula can be an alternative supply route. However, this will add two-four extra weeks. This route would mean buying more oil from suppliers such as US, Brazil, Guyana or West Africa.
