Govt limits SIM cards to 9 per person, tightens issuance rules

Telecommunications department has directed telecom operators to decline new connections to subscribers who already have nine mobile SIMs in their name. It has directed telecom firms to use subscriber photographs on the government’s Digital Intelligence Platform to prevent individuals from obtaining extra SIM cards. The move aims to curb digital frauds that use mass-issued or fake-identity lines.
