Punjab CM Charanjit Channi has written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra seeking the postponement of the February 14 state Assembly elections by at least six days over the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidass on February 16. He said that about 20 lakh people from SC community are likely to visit Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi to mark the occasion.
