An RTI filed by an environmentalist revealed that 21.4 metric tonnes (MT) of solid waste was generated at the Kedarnath shrine in 2025 Yatra season. It's a 22% jump from 2024. Off the of the 21.4 MT waste, only only 8.7 MT waste was processed and rest was left to pile up in landfills or open dumps near base camp.
