German psychologist and author Felicitas Heyne brought to life World Introvert Day in 2011. January 2 was chosen as the date because it marks the end of the holiday season from Christmas to New Year's Day. As per Heyne, the day gives introverts breathing room after all the noise, plans and constant interaction.
