Trump renames Lake Ontario as ‘Lake America’; Canada rejects move

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America” in US, amid escalating tensions with Canada. Canadian PM Mark Carney rejected the renaming, saying Canadians will continue calling it Lake Ontario. He said the name is “more than 400 years old, predating both Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of USA".
