Footwear discarded during Mumbai's Ganeshotsav to be recycled

Nearly eight tonnes of discarded footwear collected during Ganeshotsav in Mumbai will be cleaned, refurbished and distributed to schoolchildren in tribal areas. The BMC will send the collected footwear to the GreenSole Foundation for upcycling, instead of dumping them into landfills. The footwear will be manually sorted, washed and sanitised before being dismantled and later refurbished.
