Northwestern University researchers have created modular robots using AI that can survive being chopped and navigate unpredictable terrain. These "robots made of robots" can be combined and recombined and recover from injuries that would be fatal to other robots, the study said. "They know when they're stuck, flipped over...but they don't know where they're going to," a researcher said.
