Ukraine army retreats from part of Chasiv Yar as Russia advances

The Ukrainian army has retreated from several positions on the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, a strategically important town in the eastern Donetsk region where Russian forces recently captured a district. Chasiv Yar is a short distance west of Bakhmut, which was captured by Russia last year. Chasiv Yar, which has been left deserted, had a population of about 12,000 people.
