Playing games like checkers and chess, solving puzzles and reading books may delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, according to a study published in Neurology. The research followed nearly 2,000 adults with an average age of 80. It found that mentally challenging activities strengthen neural networks in the brain, helping it better cope with ageing and disease.
