Madras High Court cancelled the Vijay-led TVK government's decision to offer compassionate appointments to the families of those killed in the Karur stampede. The move violated constitutional provisions governing public employment, the court said. The stampede occurred during a rally led by TVK chief and actor Vijay on September 27 last year, killing 41 people and injuring several others.
