Study reveals fatty liver treatment may raise cancer risk

A study at Adelaide University found that inhibiting Caspase-2, a protective enzyme, may offer short-term benefits such as reducing fatty liver disease but increases the risk of chronic liver damage and cancer over time. The enzyme helps liver cells maintain genetic stability, but its suppression lead to abnormal cell growth, inflammation and higher cancer risk in liver cells.
