24-mn-year-old Kevda leaves fossil older than human civilisation found in Assam

Scientists from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences recovered fossilised Kevda leaves from Assam and found them to be about 24 million years old. The findings showed the plant was in India before human civilisation began and even predates formation of the Himalayas. Fossils around 85 million years old indicated the plant was found in Europe and North America too.
