Work on clearing 99-yr-old landfill in Mumbai for which govt gave ₹2,537-cr yet to begin
The work on clearing a portion of 99-year-old landfill in Mumbai's Deonar is yet to begin, The Indian Express reported citing RTI records. The records show BMC awarded a ₹2,537-crore contract to clean up landfill to Hyderabad-based Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (NECL). January 2026 was the deadline for work to begin, but five of seven statutory clearances are still pending.
