The death toll from two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 589, with nearly 3,000 people injured, as rescue teams continued searching through collapsed buildings. The magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 tremors, struck about 160 km west of Caracas on Wednesday evening. More than 100 buildings were reported to have collapsed in La Guaira.
