OpenAI agents made millions of requests, may have caused outage: Wikipedia operator

The Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts Wikipedia, said "rogue" AI agents believed to be operated by OpenAI made millions of automated requests to access knowledge on its projects. The agents also made thousands of data queries, which may've contributed to a partial Wikidata Query Service outage in May. Their activity included wiki edits and attempts to exploit a public note-taking tool.
