Children more vulnerable to cancer-causing water chemicals: Study
short by Sourav Kumar / on Thursday, 30 April, 2026
Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) found that NDMA, a contaminant in polluted water, may pose a greater cancer risk to children than adults. Experiments in mice showed younger species developed more DNA damage and cancer despite similar exposure. The risk arises from faster cell division in children, which more readily turns early DNA damage into harmful mutations.
