Over 1,400 cases of electricity theft have been registered in UP's Sambhal since the violence during a court-ordered survey at the Shahi Jama Masjid broke out in November last year. A senior official said there are allegations of electricity theft against 16 mosques and two madrasas. "A fine of ₹11 crore has been imposed in these cases," he added.
