Centre mulls panel to review UGC 2026 equity rules

The Centre is considering forming a special committee to review UGC's 2026 equity regulations, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court. The court, which had stayed the rules in January over vague provisions, suggested a revised framework safeguarding all students. It adjourned the matter, saying it would await government action.
