Several EU leaders reacted after Slovakian PM Robert Fico was shot at and wounded in an assassination bid on Wednesday. "Violence must have no place in European politics," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, while EU President Ursula von der Leyen remarked that "such acts undermine democracy". Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said violence should be fought with "utmost determination".
